Introduction

This blog is going to be dedicated to my ‘A’ Level Advanced Media Production. For this practical coursework piece I have a choice of two briefs of which I have chosen the first one. This involves me making a Teaser Trailer for my own movie, a poster for this film and the front page of a film magazine which will include my movie.

Definition of Teaser Trailer – A teaser trailer is a short trailer that is used to advertise an upcoming movie. Teasers, unlike theatrical trailers are very short, usually between 30 and 60 seconds and usually contain little footage from the actual film and are usually released long in advance of the film release.

Whilst this is a fairly concrete definition, I don’t feel that this is going to give me enough scope for ideas and creative licence. However during lesson time I came across a teaser trailer for the film Independence Day

which breaks the conventions of a Teaser Trailer as it runs for a total of 1 minute 32 seconds. I think this is something I am going to look into further as this will give me more opportunity to use a variety of camera angles and to develop my editing technique.
