These are a few examples of film posters that I have found on the internet. They each have conventions that appear on each of the examples. It is important that I know what these conventions are so that I can make my own film poster look as authentic as possible. They all feature the name of the film as this give a general awareness of the film.
Most of the ones I have selected feature the date the film is released and this gives a sense of anticipation for the film. if the actors or director is well known, their names or previous work have also been shown. They also show which company have produced the film as this gives them the credit for the film.

This is a really effective poster because of the image. I like the editing of the photo as this makes it look weird and rather scary which indicates what the genre of the film is.

I like that the girl is looking directly into the lens of the camera as this makes the poster seem far more personal. The tag line is rather creepy and this gives the audience an idea of what type of genre the film is.

These are the teaser posters for the new Toy Story movie. I think these are really clever as they feature the well known and much loved characters doing things that are commonly associated with their character (e.g. Jessie winking as she is a cheeky character, Mr. Potato Head with the 3 attached to his face) This makes the audience want to see the film because it has reminded them of how the love the characters. It also features the date at the bottom which adds a sense of anticipation.
